In the first seven months of 2026, more than 14.8 million foreign passengers traveled on China's railways, up 32.5% year on year. Chongli, which hosted events during the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics, is also attracting international visitors beyond the ski season. Former ski slopes have been transformed into venues for mountain biking, trail running and grass-sledding during the summer. Athletes from countries including New Zealand and France have praised the area's facilities, while some visitors are choosing to extend their stays. From high-speed rail journeys to summer outdoor adventures, a growing range of experiences is giving international travelers new reasons to explore China beyond its best-known attractions.
